The core basket of tests will include genetic tests, cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET), stool microbiome, and a variety of blood, saliva, and urine tests to look at your micronutrients, metabolic function, cortisol, sex hormones, and more.  Because the program is focused on intracellular cardiometabolic health, there are no imaging tests (which can be added at cost).

Of the several different areas within functional medicine, Dr. O wants to focus on cardiometabolic health with an emphasis on peak performance, quality of life, and longevity.  The focus is on optimizing treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases suck as coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and peripheral vascular disease.

Health care technology is advancing faster than public systems can keep up with.  Fortunately, many insurance companies are also starting to cover more preventative medicine tests and treatments.  Work with our staff to see if your third party health plan covers some of our advanced diagnostic tests or dietitian visits, and we'll subtract them (and other tests you've already done) from your price.

Yes, most appointments are virtual, but you will need to come in person to see Dr. Obayashi for a physical exam, blood and urine tests, and to pick up the at home tests.  CPET will be at UBC.
